His heart for the community
Detective Sergio Alexander Espinoza III lived a life defined by compassion, service, and an unwavering commitment to protecting and helping others. His genuine love for children and deep devotion to his community touched countless lives and could be felt in everything he did.
As a dedicated member of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Sergio served with honor and distinction, quickly rising through the ranks and earning numerous accolades along the way. Yet beyond his accomplishments as an officer, he will be remembered most for the kindness, courage, and heart he shared with those around him.
Sergio leaves behind his loving mom and dad, four siblings, and six nephews, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Though his life was far too short, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind will never be forgotten.
Sergio’s love for helping others was at the heart of everything he did. He truly loved being a police officer and took great pride in serving his community, especially when it came to helping children who needed it most. To those who knew him, Sergio, or “Nosa,” as we so lovingly called him, was the kind of person who made everyone feel safe, cared for, and valued. His colleagues and community knew him as a big teddy bear with an even bigger heart, someone who was always willing to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or simply be there when someone needed him. His compassion was genuine, his generosity came naturally, and his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others never wavered. Nosa gave so much of himself to the people around him, and the love he shared will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Continuing his legacy through the foundation
The Detective Sergio Espinoza Memorial Foundation was created from a place of love, with the hope of keeping Sergio’s memory alive by continuing the work that meant so much to him, giving back, serving others, and making a difference, especially in the lives of children and youth throughout Broward County.
For those who loved Sergio, this foundation is more than a way to honor his name. It is a path toward healing and a way to carry forward the kindness, compassion, and selflessness that defined his life. Through this foundation, we hope to keep Sergio’s spirit of service alive by supporting programs and initiatives that uplift children, strengthen families, and bring hope to our communities.
